SEARSPORT – Granville H. Gross, 80, passed to a new world to be with family and friends July 25, 2006, in Belfast. He was born April 16, 1926, in Belfast, to Maurice A. and Lillian M. (Creasey) Gross. He was educated at Crosby High School, Class of 1944, and served his time in the Navy. Granville worked at the Republican Journal for several years and at the Bangor Daily News for 29 years, retiring 18 years ago. He is survived by one sister, Marie Jacobs of Searsport; his daughter, Pam Starett of Monroe, and her children, James and Geoffrey; his son, Randy Gross and his wife, Carol, of Brewer, and their son, Jason; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew and Summer; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Carol Miller. Granville was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (Webster) Gross in 1994. Per his request, services will be private. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Searsport.
