BANGOR and STEUBEN – H. Dyer Moore III, 85, husband of the late Margaret Jane Moore, died May 19, 2007. He was born April 29, 1922, in Paoli, Pa., the son of Henry Dyer Moore II and Lois Anita (Wright) Moore. He graduated from Radnor High School, Radnor, Pa., and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with Bachelor of Arts degrees in French literature and civil engineering. He was a lifelong member of Chi Phi Fraternity. Before moving to Maine, Dyer, in partnership with his late wife, Margaret Jane, owned and operated the Brandy-wine Book Store and Gallery, West Chester, Pa., for 12 years. Dyer was employed at Eastern Maine Medical Center for many years prior to retiring. For the past 10 years he had been restoring their home in Steuben. He was a generous contributor to the Maine Center for the Arts, Bangor Public Library, H.D. Moore Parish House and Library, Steuben and many others. Surviving are his daughters, Meg of Lansdale, N.J., Kathie of Steuben and Libby Niles of Hampden; five grandchildren, David, Dyer, Henry, Heidi and Dakota; one great-grand-daughter, Samantha Rose. Services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Liz O’Donnell, deacon, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
