CHAPMAN – Halsey Dean, 94, died Friday morning, April 9, 2004, at a healthcare facility in Mars Hill. He was born June 19, 1909, at Chapman, the son of George and Myrtie (Dudley) Dean. He lived in Chapman all his life, liked horses and enjoyed telling and listening to horse stories. Mr. Dean worked as wingman on the snowplow for the state of Maine. He was a member of the Christ Gospel Church in Presque Isle. He is survived by his wife, Mildred B. (Langley) Dean of Chapman; a son, Elwood Dean and his wife, Dorothy, of Poway, Calif.; a daughter, Lois J. Cobb and her husband, John, of Ashland; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Galen Doody officiating. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Southside Cemetery, Mapleton, later this spring.
