HAROLD ARTHUR FIELD AUGUSTA – Harold Arthur Field died Aug. 9, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born in Brewer June 19, 1910, the son of Arthur Adelbert and Lucy Cecelia (Beck) Field. Harold attended schools in Bangor and Hampden and graduated from Hampden Academy in 1929. In his younger years he was interested in radio and made “crystal sets” and enjoyed listening to the early programs from the station WKDKA from Pittsburgh, Pa. He served in the Army in World War II and saw service in the Philippines. Following an honorable discharge he worked for a number of years at the University of Maine bookstore. On Nov. 27, 1937, he married Aida Nancy Martini of Bangor in St. John’s Catholic Church. They had two children. He is survived by his two children, Elizabeth Aida Osgood of Norridgewock and Richard Albert Field of Summit, N.J.; a brother, Kenneth Adelbert Field of West Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Aida, who passed away in a rest home in Waterville, on July, 10, 2000. She was 89; he was also predeceased by two younger sisters, Agnes Catherine, who was born in 1912 and died in infancy, and Sylvia Justine, who was born in 1914, and lived but a year. A memorial service will be held Sept. 12, 2004, in Bar Harbor.
