SEARSPORT – Harold “Bud” Strout, 86, of Searsport, died Friday at a Rockport healthcare facility. He was born in Glenburn, the son of Harold and Daisy (Darling) Strout. Harold enjoyed horseshoes, games and his cat and his bird. He loved carpentry and built 11 houses in 11 months with his three grandsons. Harold liked to be called a “woodbutcherer.” He also was a longtime member of the Belfast VFW. Harold was predeceased by his first wife, Lena Dorr; a son, Ervin Strout; a stepdaughter, Rose Reed; his grandson, Robert Hand; and his sister. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 18 years; his children, Daisy Hand and Gloria Quimby of Ripley, Anna Strout of Searsport; stepdaughter, Betty Wacome of North Anson; and stepsons, William Robbins and Calvin Robbins of Swanville; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, IL. 60611-1676. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
