BANGOR – Harold Clifford Spaulding, 80, died peacefully Nov. 1, 2006, in Bangor, after a long illness. He was born May 16, 1926, in Newburgh, the son of Howard Ashmore Spaulding and Isabella Victoria Rogers. He was the husband of Beatrice A. (Carter) Spaulding. Harold and Beatrice were married 57 years ago in St. Louis. Harold was a professional salesman. He started his career in the South and Midwest. He returned to Maine and sold statewide for many years. Prior to retirement, he traveled throughout New England. Harold liked selling, it was the gateway to his true passion…driving. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Robert, who died in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Robert G. Runnells. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Marguerite S. Runnells of Hermon; two daughters, Margo S. Shropshire and husband, Phillip, of Veazie, Victoria J. Carey and husband, Arthur Jr., of Hartland; grandchildren, Elizabeth Spaulding of Old Town, Jason Spaulding and wife, Heather, of Bradley, Melinda (Carey) Manzo and husband, Louis, of Hartland, Arthur G. Carey III and wife, Connie, of Palermo; two nephews, one niece and 11 great-grandchildren. Harold is also survived by his best friend and constant companion of the last three years, his service dog, Jack. Interment and memorial services will be held at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold’s memory may be sent in care of Victoria Carey, P.O.
