CHARLESTON – Harold D. Parent, 98, husband of the late Jennie (Marks) Parent and Virginia (Chase) Parent, died Oct. 10, 2004, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born July 21, 1906, in Newport, the son of Charles B. and Mary (Lang) Parent. He was educated at Newport and Dexter schools. He had retired in 1969 from the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad, where he had worked as a machine shop supervisor and as a contract sales and services supervisor. Mr. Parent was a 60-year member of Piscataquis Lodge No. 44 AF & AM, where he had served as Past Master, a 50-year member of Rabboni Chapter, where he had served as Past High Priest, a 40-year member of St. John Commandry, a member of Central Council, Anah Temple Shrine, and the Park St. United Methodist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Frances Russell of Bangor, Eleanor Oxborough of Oxnard, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at the family lot in North Newport Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
