PRESQUE ISLE – Harold L. Delano, 84, died Feb. 21, 2007, at a Mars Hill health care facility. He was born May 13, 1922, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Samuel J. and Louise H. (Henriksen) Delano. He graduated from Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1939. He was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in Battery C, 152nd Field Artillery, 43rd Infantry Division, Maine National Guard and received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Headquarters, 169th Field Artillery Battery, 43rd Infantry Division, Aug. 26, 1945, having served in Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, New Guinea and the Philippines campaigns. Hal had lived in Presque Isle since his return from military service in 1945, having been employed by several businesses as accountant and office manager. Since 1979 he had been sole operator of Del-Key Security Co., as a certified locksmith, having graduated from the New York School of Locksmithing as a certified locksmith and security specialist. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Presque Isle, where he served as treasurer, vestryman and acolyte for many years. Hal was a long time member of Trinity Lodge No. 130 AF & AM, a past commander of Ray Goding Post No. 88, American Legion, past commander of Hayward-Frazier Post No. 2599, VFW, a member of the Aroostook Amateur Radio Association and had been co-owner of the Rhythm King Orchestra. He was predeceased by his wife, Constance (Noble) Delano. Surviving him are daughters, Wendy L. Leedy and her husband, Jesse, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Diane L. Radcliff and her husband, Warren, of Chipley, Fla.; sons, Stephen C. Delano and his wife, Sue, of Presque Isle and Peter H. Delano and his wife, Kim, of Robinson; a stepdaughter, Judith (McGlauflin) Wadlington and her husband, Pete, of Bangor; grandchildren, Timothy O’Brien, Marcus Haines, Danielle McPheters, Lacy Delano, Samuel Delano, Jacob Delano and Michael Allen; stepgrandchildren, Jaimie and Jillian Wadlington; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Christopher O’Brien; a great-great-grandchild, Colin O’Brien; and a special friend, Catherine (Flannery) Finney. Masonic memorial services will be conducted 1:45 p.m. Saturday by officers and members of Trinity Lodge at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. James P. Morgan officiating. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
