BELFAST – Harold John Thompson, 79, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 20, 2007, after suffering with cancer. He was born Sept. 23, 1927, in East Millinocket, the son of Melvin and Sarah (Powers) Thompson. Harold served his country as sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea. He is survived by a special and loving companion of 23 years, Patricia Melvin; her daughter, Sheryll Small and husband, Dan, of Northport, and their daughter, Laura; Pat’s son, Robert Furlong and wife, Patty, and their family, of Grotton, Conn.; his brothers and sisters and their families, Martha Corbett and Geneva Michaud, both of East Millinocket, Dorothy and Lewis Doane of Kingman, Robena and Hugh Dugans of LaGrange, Joann and Vernon Hunt of Bucksport, Evelyn and Donald Wright of Foxboro, Mass., Gloria and Roger Anderson of Mineral Point, Mo., Carl of Mattawamkeag, Arnold and Donna of Caribou, Virgil and Amanda of Hackensack, N.J., Basil and Ruth of Tampa, Fla., Alton and Sharon of Osceola, Ind., and Joseph and Debbie of Glen Carbon, Ill; sister-in-law, Georgia Thompson of Seattle,. He was predeceased by two brothers, Melvin Jr. and Myles Thompson. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Harold will be buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
