EAST MILLINOCKET – Harold Leland Glidden Jr., husband of the late Helen (Grant) Glidden, died Jan. 5, 2005, at an East Millinocket health-care facility. He was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Island Falls, the son of Harold and Ella (Harrington) Glidden Sr. Harold grew up on a potato farm in Aroostook County. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Harold worked as a farmer for 10 years in Crystal, and then was a papermaker at Great Northern Paper in East Millinocket for 33 years. He is survived by one son, Donald Glidden of Cherryfield; two daughters, Sharon Gagnon and her husband, James, of East Millinocket and Roberta Cole and her husband, John, of Prentiss; two sisters, Minnie Carswell and her husband, Alan, of Florida and Ethel Cleveland of New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Carl Glidden, Chris Cole, Jennifer Rotella, Denise Deschaine and Matthew Gagnon; four great-grandchildren, C.J., Hailey, Jacob and Abigail; his mother-in-law, Hildred Grant of Lincoln; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, George Woodard of Augusta, Hartley and Erlene Grant of Medway and Erma Grant of Mattawamkeag. In addition to his wife of more than 50 years, Helen, and his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, John Leland Glidden; siblings, Eleanor Woodard, Paul Glidden and Ellwood Glidden. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Clay Funeral Home with the Rev.
