STONINGTON – Harold Leroy Robbins, 81, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Stonington, the son of H. Franklin and Stella E. (Robbins) Robbins. Harold was a fisherman, caretaker, and carpenter. He helped build the replica of the schooner, America, at Goudy and Stevens shipyard in East Boothbay. He enjoyed caretaking on the Island for his island people. Harold is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan (Howard) Robbins of Stonington; a daughter, Julia R. Trundy and her husband, Ronald; two special grandsons, Matthew B. Trundy and his fiance, Rya Higgins and Joseph A. Trundy and his friend, Ashley Welch; sister-in-law, Sylvia Gott and her husband, Douglas; a special cousin, James Robbins and his wife, Ethel; and many cousins and close friends. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Stonington. Gifts in memory of Harold may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
