HAROLD WILLIAM RUSSELL SR. BANGOR and LEVANT – Harold William Russell Sr., 79, died March 30, 2006, surrounded by his loving family, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Bangor, the son of Dennis Joseph and Nora Cora (Caron) Russell. Harold William Russell Sr. lived a wonderful life. He left this earth 79 years old, with four children that love him dearly, six grandkids that have the best memories of him, a wonderful wife, to whom he has been married to for 57 years and more friends then we could ever count. He joined the Navy at age 17 and proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by Grant’s Dairy, now Garelick Farms, for 49 years. He was the last door-to-door milkman in New England. Affectionately known as “Peanut” to good friends because he was short in stature, his heart made him a true giant to those who knew him. Always smiling, whistling and willing to lend a helping hand, he will be greatly missed. We love you Dad. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Sawyer) Russell; his children, Susan Grigsby and husband, Gerald, of Orono, Jan Macdonald and husband, Bruce, of Hermon, Deanne Erskine and husband, Robert, of Fort Collins, Colo. and Harold Russell Jr. of Bangor; his grandchildren, Stephen and Brian Grigsby, Taren and Paige Macdonald, Madison and Megan Erskine; one brother-in-law, John R. Smith; special niece, Gloria Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be private for the family. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Reception, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
