EAGLE LAKE – Harry J. “Babe” Simard, 64, died Feb. 15, 2008, surrounded by his family at a Bangor health care facility. He was born July 2, 1943, in Eagle Lake, the son of Edward and Yvonne (Dube) Simard. Babe was a lumberman most of his life, working for several different contractors. He was a member of Eagle Lake Rod and Gun Club and his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. He is survived by his five children, Steven Simard of Orlando, Fla., Theresa and her husband, Douglas Leandro, of Fairhaven, Mass., David and his wife, Erin Simard, of Casselberry, Fla., Jason and his wife, Latrice Michaud, of McKinney, Texas, Amy and her husband, Scott Lavoie, of Sebago; eight grandchildren, Adam, Jake, Luke and Sara Leandro, Jashua Simard, Caleb and Kara Simard and Abigail Lavoie. He is also survived by his two sisters, Fernande Palmer of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Rolande Blanchette of Danbury, Conn.; four brothers, Fernand Simard of Eagle Lake, Norman Simard of Bristol, Conn., Lucien Simard of Dan-bury, Conn., and Kerry Simard of Bradford; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until the time of departure for Eagle Lake, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. At the families request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101-2406, envelopes are available at the funeral home. Spring burial will held at the parish cemetery May 16, 2008.
