PARKMAN – Harry P. Bearce, 77, died Sept. 12, 2007, in the house where he was born in Park-man. He was the son of Harry L. and Marion (Nauflaice) Bearce. Harry grew up in the Guilford area, graduating from Guilford High School in 1947. Soon after, he joined the Army, serving in Japan, Korea, and France. He married Marjorie Knowles while in the service. After coming home, they lived in Connecticut, while Harry worked at Pratt & Whitney. They returned home to Maine, as his folks’ health declined. He worked in the local mills and in the woods for many years. He also worked for the towns of Guilford and Parkman. For many years Harry was the self-proclaimed No. 1 poacher in Piscataquis County. He was predeceased by his wife; a sister, Lena; and his parents. He is survived by a sister, Dora Starbird of Sangerville; brothers, Linwood and Nelson of Connecticut; two nephews, Steve Cole of Greenville and Hermon, and John Bearce of Connecticut; two nieces, Sharon Smith of Sangerville, and Nancy of Connecticut. He will be sadly missed by his friends, Don Pepin, Roger Tetreault, and Harold Kimball. At Harry’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
