MILLINOCKET and KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Hazel A. LaPlante, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, in Portland, shortly after returning to Maine. She was born April 26, 1924, in Harvey Station, New Brunswick, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Thompson) Davis. Hazel graduated from Stearns High School, Class of 1942, and was employed at the Great Northern Paper Co. in Millinocket for 21 years. She was a member of Molunkus Chapter No. 95, OES and an active member of the Paper Mates Square Dance Club. Hazel is survived by her husband, E. Bryant LaPlante of Kissimmee, Fla.; two sons, Bryant LaPlante of Cornville and his companion, Sylvia Cyr and Michael LaPlante and his companion, Esther Coyle, of Portland; four grandchildren, Shawn LaPlante and his wife, Andrea, Christopher LaPlante, Matthew LaPlante and Megan LaPlante; her best friend, Mary Jamieson of Millinocket and Kissimmee, Fla.; nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Dawn (Glidden) LaPlante; and a sister, Phyllis Mayo. To know Hazel was to love her – she was unique in that way. She touched the lives of so many with her big heart. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at the Bouchard-Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the First Baptist Church of Millinocket with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck officiating. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery.
