EASTON and PRESQUE ISLE – Mrs. Hazel Beatrice Johnston, 95, wife of the late Donald L. Johnston, died Monday evening, Nov. 8, 2004, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 8, 1909, at Kincardine, Victoria County, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Sanford E. and Sarah J. (Clark) Smith. She attended local schools and was married to Donald L. Johnston on April 26, 1946, and the couple made their home in Presque Isle. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, Presque Isle, and had been employed by Sears & Roebuck of Presque Isle for several years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband on April 24, 2000; one sister, Margaret O’Blenes; and one brother, James Smith. She is survived by one brother, Eric Smith of Presque Isle; a sister-in-law, Laura Tweedie of Easton; several nieces and nephews. She will also be lovingly remembered by Kelly Langille. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. James Ackerson officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at the Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Johnston may be given to the Bethany Baptist Church, 24 Second St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
