CORINNA and ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Hazel E. (Dugger) Seavey Knowles, 85, passed away peacefully Dec. 28, 2004, surrounded by her family at East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was born June 13, 1919, in Dalton, Neb., the second daughter of Lauren and Clara Dugger. She graduated from Huntley High School and went on to graduate from Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing in Scottsbluff, Neb. She did her post graduate work at the Margaret Haige in New Jersey. Hazel enjoyed her nursing career at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Plummer Memorial Hospital and Sebasticook Valley Hospital. She was a member of the RN Nursing Guild, Corinna Literary Club and the Red Hat Lady Society. She was also a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Rodney Knowles; two sisters, Fern and husband Everett Williams of Mesa, Ariz., and Mary Jane Lester of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a brother, Jay and wife, Frances, Dugger of Tacoma, Wash.; three daughters, Mari-Lee Seavey Rockwell and husband, Lee, of Bedford, Texas, Carol Ann Brooks and husband, Bill, of Brewer, and Susan Mathews of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, John Ludlow, Kristen and husband, Paul Lofgren, Stacey and husband, Kelly Rhyne, Amy and husband, Allan Tetreault, Robert and wife, Allison Barclay, and Kristen Barclay; and 25 great-grandchildren, whom she greatly enjoyed. She was predeceased by her first husband, Myron Seavey; and a sister, Harriet Bussard. Hazel will be sadly missed by her family and many friends in Corinna and Florida. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, with the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy officiating. Interment will be in the Corinna Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Corinna United Methodist Church, 16 Dexter Road, Corinna, ME 04928; or to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital Building Fund, 99 Grove St., Pittsfield, ME 04967.
