ELLSWORTH – Helen Butts, 100, died Sept. 11, 2005, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born July 4, 1905, in Salem, Mass., the daughter of John and Theresa (Bick) Potas. Helen was married to Louis C. Butts who predeceased her. They spent most of their lives in the Ellsworth area where they raised their family, attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and shared a life together at their home on Hancock Street. Helen’s life was devoted to her family and home and she derived a great deal of pleasure working in her garden. She will be greatly missed by her sons and grandchildren who enjoyed her wit and tender care. She is survived by two sons, Donald, of Ellsworth and Charles, of Brunswick; three granddaughters, Dr. Cheryl Sanfacon, of Phildelphia, Pa., Stephanie Butts, of Atlanta, Ga., and Lissa Merrill, of West Paris; one grandson, Michael Butts, of Scarborough; two great-grandsons, Sam Butts, of Scarborough, and Lincoln Merrill, of West Paris. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Graveside services will be private at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.
