SHERMAN MILLS – Helen Corrigan Lewis, 79, beloved wife of the late William H. Lewis, died Oct. 19, 2005, in Topsfield, Mass. Born July 23, 1926, in Millinocket, she was the daughter of Thomas and Annie (Crozier) Corrigan. Helen graduated from Regis College, Weston, Mass. and pursued graduate studies at Fordham University in New York City. She and William “Bill” married in 1949 and settled in Sherman Mills where they raised their family. Helen was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Sherman Station and St. Benedict’s Church in Benedicta. She loved children and taught for many years in the Sherman school system. Helen was predeceased by her brother, Charles Corrigan and her sister, Katherine, who died when she was only 18 months old. She is survived by her eight children, Ann L. Kyriacou and husband, George, of West Hartford, Conn., William “Bill” Lewis Jr. of Woburn, Mass., Susan L. Brooks and husband, Michael, of Simsbury, Conn., Rose Mary Irwin of Middleboro, Mass., Frederick D. Lewis and wife, Emily, of Lowell, Mass., Mary Catherine Humphrey and husband, Paul, of Rochester, N.Y., Jane L. Harrington and husband, Gerard, of Wilbraham, Mass. and Jude L. Hogan and husband, Ed, of South Hamilton, Mass. Helen is also survived by 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she was very proud. She will be dearly missed by all. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Benedicta, with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday with Bishop Joseph Gerry O.S.B. celebrant. Interment will be in St. Benedict’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to the Sherman Mills Public Library, care of Rose Bragdon, P.O.
