AGAWAM, Mass., and BELFAST – Helen Lenora (Emerly) Sanker, 98, of Agawam, Mass., passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, in Agawam, Mass. She was born in Altoona, Pa., to the late John and Frieda (Furrer) Emerly. She resided in Belfast for most her life, where she was a legal secretary for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Hoell Sanker, in 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Derrah and her husband, Robert, of Springfield, Mass.; her sister, Dorothy Ann Dixon of California; two grandchildren, Susan and her husband, Daniel Sullivan, and Marsha Harvey, all of Springfield, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Jayson Harvey and his wife, Diane, of Three Rivers, Mass., Jaime and her husband, Jason Asselin, of Holland, Mass., Daniel Sullivan and his wife, Catherine, of Longmeadow, Mass., and Matthew Sullivan of Springfield, Mass.; and two great-great-grandchildren, Aidan and Kirsten Harvey. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Emerly; and her grandson, Michael Derrah. Family and friends are invited to call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct., 25, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Grove Cemetery, Belfast, with the Rev. Joel Krueger officiating.
