PALMYRA – Helen M. Fletcher, 94, died Nov. 14, 2007, at her Lang Hill Road residence. She was born Aug. 28, 1913, in Canaan, a daughter of Guy and Gertrude (Davis) Nason. Helen and her husband, Ivan, operated the family dairy farm for many years until his death, Jan. 3, 1978. She was a member of the Meridian Splendor No. 42, Order of the Eastern Star and the Palmyra Grange. Helen attended High Street Congregational Church, Newport. She is survived by four sons, Ivan Jr. of Mars Hill, George of Palmyra, Harold “Cuffy” of Newport and Robert of Hartland; three daughters, Barbara Smith of Kansas City, Mo., Shirley Bryson and Janet Philbrick, both of Palmyra; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ivan, Helen was also predeceased by a brother, Morrill Nason; and two sisters, Mary Bangs and Edith Fowler. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Friday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where an Eastern Star service will be held 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Burial will be at Palmyra Village Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Order of the Eastern Star ESTARL fund, benefiting students entering the ministry, in care of Mrs. Barbara Marshall, 270 Newport Road, Corinna, ME 04928.
