HELEN M. ROBERTS BANGOR – Helen M. Roberts, wife of the late John E. Roberts Sr., died April 11, 2008, in Bangor, and was fortunate to have all her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children visit her within the last days of her life. She was born in Bangor, the youngest daughter of Alexander and Helen (Crane) McPherson. Helen graduated from Bangor High School and Bangor Business College. She worked for a time with Freezes department store. Helen loved spending summers at their place on Green Lake. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had been active in many of its organizations. She had been a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. She is survived by her son, John Roberts Jr. and his wife, Shari, of Cape Elizabeth; her daughter, Janine “Jan” and her husband, Dr. Vincent Michaud, of Holden; four grandchildren, Briana and her husband, Joel Rumelhart, of South Portland, Mark and his wife, Kelly Roberts, of Windham, Carrie and her husband, Mike Rice, and Vanessa Michaud, all of Hol-den; three great-grandchildren, Sam, Megan and Ellie Rumelhart; one sister, Lois Libby; sister-in-law, Frances Glover; brother-in-law, Charles Roberts; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to Hancy Coffin, a lifelong friend, who spent time with Helen on a weekly basis and also to the staff at Bangor Nursing and Rehab Center for their love and compassion. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Hazel Hanson and Dorothy McPherson; and her three brothers, Ralph, John and Leo McPherson. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, presider. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor. Spring interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
