BUCKSPORT – Helen P. Gourley, 97, died Jan. 23, 2004, at her home in Bucksport. She was born April 23, 1906, in Pepperell, Mass., the daughter of Chester A. and Lillian A. (Hill) Parker. Helen was a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1928 from the Peter Brigham Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Mass., in 1943, and during World War II for a period of time. In 1954, she moved to Maine with her husband, Ashton, living in Orrington, Millinocket, and Bucksport. Her family was the most important thing to Helen. She is survived by one daughter, Bette Ann Cunningham of Concord, Mass.; one son, Richard A. Gourley and wife, Ruby, of Bucksport; four grandchildren, Cheryl A. Daigle and husband, Kerry, of Acton, Mass., Melody J. Cunningham and husband, Michael Rohrer, of Northboro, Mass., Rick Gourley and wife, Cathy, of Bucksport, Lisa DeLaite and husband, Dave, of Lincoln; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley and Christina Daigle, Christopher Rohrer, Ashton, Tiffany and Cassandra Gourley, Felicia, Devin and Trevor DeLaite; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ashton E. Gourley, in 1971. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring at Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport.
