BREWER and AURORA – Helen Patricia “Pat” Larson, died peacefully June 28, 2005, in Bangor. Pat was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Millinocket, the daughter of Charles Isaac and Clara Mae (Wright) Higgins. Pat felt a deep sense of family ties, cherishing her family and friends. She loved visiting her extended Millinocket family. She was a 1947 graduate of Bangor High School and Husson College in 1949. She touched the lives of Hancock County residents through her work as an agent for the Co-operative Extension Service of the University of Maine. Children will remember nutrition camps, 4-H meetings and the play groups for preschoolers. Prior to her recent move to Brewer, she served the town of Aurora for 31 years as the tax-collector and treasurer. It was a matter of pride to her to be conscientious in her work. She spent weekend mornings opening at Mace’s store. Pat also served her church in Amherst as a long-time member and deacon. A generous and loving woman, Pat was a superb cook. She baked the most delicious cheesecakes, blueberry muffins and macaroni and cheese. She often welcomed brothers-in-law, Robert Larson and Lee Sirabella for dinner. She cherished special times with sister-in-law, Louise Larson. Pat enjoyed attending U Maine women’s basketball games and was a keen fan of the Red Sox. She was a member of the Four Town Senior Citizens. Dear to her heart was her dog, Buster. Pat was loved and will be dearly missed by many survivors including her husband, Peter C. Larson; daughter, Bridget A. Larson; son, Patrick C. Larson, his wife, Laurie; and granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Erin Patricia; special niece, Lauri Sirabella; special nephews, Noel and David Sirabella; and many other close friends and extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Stella Sirabella; and brother, Charles Higgins.Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Amherst-Aurora UCC Church. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Amherst Church, care of E. Martin, P.O. Box 25, Aurora, ME 04408.
