BREWER – Helinor W. Gallagher, 101, died peacefully Dec. 12, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Feb. 28, 1906, in Brewer, the daughter of Edward B. and Julia F. (McDonough) Jordan. Helinor graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she was in the Alter Rosary Society. Helinor made a wonderful fudge, wedding cakes and was a great chef. She was a caregiver throughout her life and was always doing for others. She is survived by two daughters, Carline T. Clarke of Concord, N.H., and Patricia A. Augustus and husband, John, of Brewer; two sons, James A. Gallagher and wife, Roberta, of Barrington, N.H., and Robert F. Gallagher and wife, Sheila, of Enfield, Conn.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Gallagher, in 1967; a brother, Edward Jordan; and a sister, Carline Crossman. The family thanks the staff at the Maine Veterans’ Home for the wonderful care that Helinor received. Friends are invited to call 6-8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Brookings-Smith Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 531 North Main St., Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends for conversation and refreshments after the service in St. Joseph’s parish hall. Interment will be in the spring at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
