SEARSPORT – Surrounded by her loving family, Henrietta R. Curtis, 81, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Waldo County General Hospital, Belfast, after a long illness. She was born Oct. 21, 1926, in Belfast, the daughter of Edward and Eliza (Lida) A. (Hopkins) Robinson. Henrietta touched the lives of a great many people and will be lovingly remembered by all. She was an accomplished floral designer and in her later years, pioneered the use of seashells in the creation of wreath- art with nautical themes. She also enjoyed her dogs, gardening, reading, cooking, genealogy, playing cards, bird watching and fishing. Her greatest passion however, was being with her family and friends. Etta’s hospitality was well known and visitors to her home were always rewarded with the bounties of her kitchen. For the past 27 years, she resided at her beloved camp on Cain’s Pond, where she enjoyed chronicling the activities of her loons, ducks, cormorants, wildlife and other splendors of nature. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her children, Jeanne A. Curtis and Susan McNerney of Searsport, Jay E. Curtis II of Springfield, Vt., and Winston G. Curtis and his wife, Chanhom, also of Searsport; two grandchildren, Jason W. Curtis and Jessica Lou Curtis of Springfield, Vt.; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruth Robinson of Swanville and Ada Curtis of Searsport; and special friends, Marie Luciani and April Finnigan of Orlando, Fla., and Kim Ashey of Searsport. In addition to her parents, Henrietta was predeceased by her husband, Jay E. Curtis; and her brother, Edward Robinson Jr. At Henrietta’s request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Gordon Cemetery, Searsport. Flowers may be sent to Young’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 31 West Main St., Searsport, ME 04974. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in Henrietta’s name, to Carver Memorial Library, 12 Union St., Searsport, ME 04974.
