ELLSWORTH – Henry DeWitt, 69, died April 14, 2006, surrounded by his family, at a Bangor hospital, after a long courageous battle with heart disease. Born Aug. 27, 1936, in Ellsworth, the son of James A. DeWitt and Evelyn Dunn DeWitt. Henry was a member of the armed forces and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge as well as the Lygonia Lodge. He was a hard working man his whole life, operating heavy equipment for different construction companies. His passions in life were first and foremost spending time with his family and chasing his grandchildren to various sporting events. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, a hobby he passed down to his sons and grandsons. Henry was predeceased by his son, Henry “Tiger” DeWitt; both his parents, James A. DeWitt and Evelyn Dunn DeWitt. He is survived by his devoted loving wife of 49 years, Sandra Ashmore DeWitt; sons, Danny DeWitt and his wife, Lydie of Eastbrook and Michael DeWitt and his wife, Lisa, of Ellsworth; daughter, Teresa Austin and her husband, Peter, of Ellsworth; several grandchildren which he loved and adored, David and his wife, Jessica, Diane, Steven, Joey, Corey, Amy, Andrew; and a great-grandson, Alex; one brother, Jimmy Dewitt Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Ellsworth; sisters, Joan Sanborn of Surry, Judy Crossman of Ellsworth, Dotty Young of Trenton and Teddy Urquhart and her husband, Perley, of Ellsworth; several nieces and nephews. Henry will be sadly missed by all who loved him so very much. For those who wish to attend, a graveside service will be held 1 p.m. April 28, at the East Lamoine Cemetery with Pastor Gerry Dill officiating.
