FREDERICTON, N.B. – Herbert “Herb” Hooper Jordan passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born Aug. 7, 1919, at Franklin, he was the eldest of seven children born to Carolyn (Hooper) and Leamon Jordan. He graduated from high school in Franklin, Farmington Teachers College and studied at Husson Business College in Bangor. Following U.S. Army service in World War II, he settled in Lincoln, Neb. where he found his niche in real estate. He lived there for 25 years before retiring to Ellsworth. There he developed Green Lake Vacation Cottages and built Oak Terrace Apartments in Ellsworth. Herb was a member of Benevolent Protection Order of Elks (BPOE) for 40 years. He was predeceased by his first wife, Aubrey; and brothers, Donald, Gilbert, Langdon and Carrol. Survived by his wife, Phyllis (Scova) Jordan; sisters, Hildred Jordan (Benjamin) and Arbine Gardiner (William); stepdaughter, Karon Croll (Jim); stepson, Reigh Sweezey (Elaine); sister-in-law, Jean Betuik (John); special niece and nephew, Claire and Len MacFarlane; stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Kassia Sweezey and special friend, Shawn McCann. No visitation by request. Burial will be held privately at a later date. The family has suggested memorial contributions be sent to Pine Grove Foundation, care of Pine Grove Nursing Home, 521 Woodstock Rd., Fredericton, NB, E3B 2J2 or to a charity of your choice.
