DETROIT, MICH. and BANGOR – Herbert S. Gross, 86, died Sept. 15, 2005, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Jan. 15, 1919 in McKees Rock, Pa., the son of Joseph and Hermina (Sims) Gross. Herbert served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps during World War II in Australia. He was a 60-year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 80 of Detroit, Mich. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mildred (Altman) Gross of Bangor; two sons, Harvey Gross and his wife, Debby, of Rochester, Mich., Irwin Gross and his fianc?e, Martha Fogler of Bangor; four grandchildren, Bryan, Kimberly, Claire, Lucy; his brother-in-law, Robin Seymour of Los Angeles, Calif.; and former daughter-in-law, Gerry Gross of Bangor. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Congregation Beth El, 183 French St., Bangor, with Rabbi Darah R. Lerner, officiating. Interment will be at Beth El Cemetery, Bangor.
