EASTON- Herman D. Tompkins, 80, died unexpectedly at his home April 17, 2004. He was born March 24, 1924, in Easton, the son of John and Hazel (Nicholson) Tompkins. He had worked in the construction business for many years, until his retirement 18 years ago. Herm was well liked by all those that knew him. Surviving him are two sisters; a brother and he and Mabel’s seven children, Dana W. Tompkins of Easton, Ronnie E. Tompkins of Overland Park, Kan., Helene Ouellette and her husband, Tom, of Lewiston, Linda LeVasseur and her husband, Phil, of Fort Fairfield, Sharon Tompkins of Portland, Wanda Nadeau and her husband, Norman, of Hampden, and Carol Taylor and her husband, Geof, of Kennebunk; three grandsons and three granddaughters, Kris and Dustin LeVasseur, Sarah Shaw, Tyler and Marcie Page and Katie Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Zander Page; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Tompkins. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Pine Tree Cemetery in Easton.
