ORONO – Holly Pepe, 93, died Sept. 20, 2004, at her residence in Orono. She was born Dec. 25, 1910, in Upsalquitch, New Brunswick, the daughter of James and Amelia Anne (Smith) Bury. In 1933, Holly received her nursing degree from Newton Hospital. She volunteered during World War II as a nurse at the Hammersmith Hospital in London from 1943-1945. Holly was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was a long time member of the Newtonville Methodist Church, Newton. Holly loved to correspond with her many friends from throughout the world. She loved keeping in touch with her many friends that she had met when she traveled with her husband. Holly enjoyed cooking, gardening, and crochet. Many thanks are extended from her family for the wonderful care and the friends from Dirigo Pines, New Hope Hospice and Caring & Sharing. Holly was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Enrico A. Pepe, in 1994. She is survived by a son, James Pepe, and wife, Anne S., of Hampden; two grandchildren, Anne E. Pepe and Steven Thomas; many nieces and nephews. Services will be private for the family. Interment will be at Newton Cemetery, Newton. Gifts in her memory may be made to Mt. Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
