PRINCETON – Hortense McDonough, 85, wife of the late Derrill McDonough, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Chicopee, Mass., the daughter of Melvin and Effie (Smith) Sherman. Hortense was a member of the Princeton Baptist Church. She worked many years in the Georgia-Pacific mill cafeteria. The last 17 years she was employed at the Princeton A G Foodmart as a deli clerk retiring in 1992. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia MacArthur and her husband, Ronald of Princeton, Bernadette Williams and companion, Eugene Van Riper, of Longview, Wash.; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, one brother, Frederick Hamilton and his wife, Rachel, of Baileyville, many nieces, nephews, and very good friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Priscilla; son-in-law, Joseph Boucher; grandson, Kerry Lyle McDonough; two sisters, Evelyn and Alberta Hamilton; two brothers, Terrance Sherman and Frank Hamilton. Relatives and friends may call 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Princeton Baptist Church; services to follow at 1 p.m., with pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery. The family invites everyone to share conversation and refreshments at the Princeton Baptist Church fellowship hall following the burial.
