FRANKLIN – Howard L. Berry, 71, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Courtland Nursing Home, Ellsworth. He was born March 3, 1935, in Ellsworth, the son of the late Arthur and Alice (Whitmore) Berry. Mr. Berry attended Ellsworth schools and was employed by the state of Maine retiring as a road agent in the Ellsworth area with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the White Birches Golf Course in Ellsworth for many years. In addition to golfing, he enjoyed bowling, gardening and sporting events. He shared 35 years of marriage with Marion (Dinsmore) Berry who died in 1992. Family members include his children, Ronald Dinsmore of Ellsworth, Sharon Guptil of Eastbrook, Robert Berry and his wife, Susan, of Waltham and Donna Mesa and her husband, Jesse, of Port Lavaca, Texas; six grandchildren, Rhonda, Diane, Kevin, Alex, Jason and Keith; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jackson Berry of Ellsworth and Roland Severance of Fair Oaks, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Richard “Dickie” Berry who died in 1981; and by two brothers, Roscoe Berry and Francis Severance Jr. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Route 200, Eastbrook.
