BANGOR – Hugh Francis Whitty Jr., 78, died Oct. 13, 2006, at his Bangor home, He was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Brewer, the son of Hugh F. Whitty Sr. and Anna E. (Ambrose) Whitty. He graduated from St. John’s Grammar School and John Bapst High School. He was employed 25 years for W.T. Grant and 30 years at Bangor Federal Credit Union, retiring as manager. He was a licensed funeral home attendant, both in Bangor and Florida. Hugh was a lifelong communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church and a life member of Pine Cone Council Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his children, Lucille Neill of Gloucester, Va., Elizabeth A. Davis of Bangor, Hugh F. Whitty III and wife, Lori, of Winterport, Mary Catherine Kingsbury and husband, Roger, of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; grandchildren, Hugh Thomas Neill, Marie L. Lass, Matthew A. Davis, Kyley J. Davis, Hugh F. Whitty IV, Nicole M. Whitty, Stephen P. Whitty, Philip G. Whitty, Ian Troy Whitty and Valene Mae Whitty; his sister, Mary A. Whitty of Bangor; brothers, John E. Whitty and wife, Virginia, of Santa Rose, Calif., James F. Whitty and wife, Helene, of Bangor; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; three stepchildren, Sharon Therriault of South Yarmouth, Mass., Beverly Westcott of Rochester, Vt. and Samuel Grallo of Wallingford, Conn. He was predeceased by his wives, Barbara (Johnson) Whitty, Evelyn (Qurion) Whitty and Lucille (Purcell) Whitty; and his sister, Teresa I. Whitty. Relatives and friends may call 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where the Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard C. McLaughlin, pastor, presiding. Interment will be held immediately after at the Whitty family lot at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held in Fr.
