MADAWASKA – Ida Levesque, 86, died July 1, 2006, at her home, 247 Acadia St., Madawaska. She was born Aug. 26, 1919, in St. David, the daughter of Onezime and Anna (Chasse) Deschaine. She was taken to Baptism by George and Clara Deschaine. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne. Besides working at the Madawaska High School from 1969 until her retirement in 1981, she also took care of her paraplegic sister, Delina, for 11 years. Ida would love to cook for her extended family and was an avid gardener who would enjoy being in her flower and vegetable gardens. She gave birth to 19 children, which all took place at her home. Her passion was to love her family to the fullest and enjoy spending time with them. Being a loving and dedicated mother, she was honored with being mother of the year in 1987. Ida is survived by 17 beloved children, Marius Levesque, Jeanine and Sidney Peck, Murielle and Theodore Mowen, Geraldine and Reginald Lavoie, Jackie Belanger, Roger and Gilda Levesque, Jeannette and Robert Guerrette, Vernon and Dianne Levesque, Roland and Betty Levesque, Donald and Helen Levesque, Herman and Marie Levesque, Lena and Ronald Sirois, Dennis and Phyllis Levesque, Leo James Levesque, Diane and Joe Tracy, Michael and Peggy Levesque, Carol and Jesse Waltman; her cherished daughter-in-law, Charlene Levesque; four brothers, Phillip Deschaine, Renaud Deschaine, Gedeon Deschaine, Ronald Deschaine; five sisters, Louise Robichaud, Joanne Nadeau, Viola Therrian, Blanche Jalbert, Constance Rancourt; 50 grandchildren, 58 great-grand-children, two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gedeon Levesque; one son, Armand Levesque; one daughter, Marie Levesque; two sons-in-law, Leonard Belanger and Charles Wilkie; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Levesque; one grandson, Robert Levesque; one great-grandson, Ray Mowen Jr.; six sisters, Delina Deschaine, Edith Cyr, Irene Martin, Lillian Deschaine, Willianna Deschaine, Carmen Deschaine; three brothers, Reginald Deschaine, Roland Deschaine and Peter Deschaine; her parents, Onezime and Anna Deschaine; and her much loved stepmother, Marie-Anne Dube Deschaine. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Friends and relatives may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of service at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be in the St. Gerard Cemetery, Grand Isle.
