FORT KENT – Ida Martin, 94, passed away peacefully Feb. 16, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Frenchville. She was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Van Buren, the daughter of Levite and Alvina (Pelletier) Dube. She worked as a clerk at Grant’s, Fort Kent for many years. Ida was an avid reader, loved to sew and work puzzles. She loved to hum, sing and was a singing member of the local minstrel show for years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Fort Kent, since its inception and served as their president. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of Fort Kent. She was predeceased by her husband, Claude Martin in 1968. She is survived by her son, Reynold Martin and his wife, Jacqueline, of Cross Lake; two daughters, Claudette Martin of Madawaska Lake and Sandra Pelletier and her husband, Richard, of Fayetteville, Pa.; one sister, Margaret Gratten of Pittsford, N.Y. At the request of the family, there will be no viewing hours at the funeral home. There will be a registrar book at the church for friends to sign. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at St. Luce Catholic Church, Frenchville. Committal services will be held after at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent. Arrangements are in the care of Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, 14 East Main St., Fort Kent.
