BANGOR – Imelda Mary Martin, 99, wife of the late Paul Martin, died Nov. 8, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born March 6, 1907, in Old Town, the daughter of J. Ernest and Philomene (Doucette) Fournier. Imelda was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor; the Legion of Mary; Daughters of Isabella; and St. Ann’s Prayer Group, Old Town. After her retirement from Freese’s department store, where she worked for many years in the yarn department, she spent most of her time caring for the sick as a home companion, visiting shut-ins and driving her many senior citizen friends to appointments, shopping and activities. She is survived by one son, Paul J. Martin Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Amherst; three daughters, Lorraine M. Griffin and her husband, Lawrence, of Old Town, Joan P. Martin of Bangor and Janet C. Cammack and her husband, Walter, of Brewer; 13 grandchildren, Mary Griffin of Philadelphia, Joseph Griffin of Germantown, Md., Cathy Griffin of Arlington, Mass., Paul Griffin and Eileen Griffin of Portland, Michael Griffin of Framingham, Mass., Patricia Griffin of Austin, Texas, Donald Martin of Bangor, Ronald and Anthony Martin of Amherst, Walter Cammack IV of Laconia, N.H., Stephen Cammack of Orrington and Heather Cannan of Brewer; 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert J. Fournier of Pascoag, R.I.; and one sister, Madeline M. Tillinghast of LeConte, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Florent, Edmond, Clarence and Benedict; and six sisters, Alice, Bella, Grace, Leona, Loretta and Tina. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor, celebrant. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the services Monday at the St. John’s Parish Hall, 207 York St., Bangor.
