HOWLAND – Irene Haverlock, 75, was called home Oct. 10, 2007, to join her three sisters, her mom and dad. Irene will miss all her friends that have been so kind to her during her fight with lymphoma. After years of fighting cancer, it was time to call it quits and go home. Irene was a good Catholic and attended church faithfully, always praying for the sick. Irene loved to watch the Red Sox win and lose. She knew all the players by name and if they were going to walk or hit the ball. Ortez was her favorite. In the past year, Irene liked to play cards. No visitor could come to visit without playing a game of Old Maid. She is survived by three sisters, Jenny Leighton and her husband, William, of Lincoln, Loretta Bernard and her husband, Francis, of Howland, and Rosemary and Peter Glidden of Howland. Irene was predeceased by her mother, Isabelle; her father, Peter Haverlock; three sisters, Martha Sher-wood, Marilyn “Grace” Kreta and Geneva Pinkham; three brothers-in-law, Bernard Glidden, Howard Pinkham and Andrew Kreta. She will miss her special friends, Muriel Spearin, Mary Chamberlain, Sue Bailey and Sharon Merrill, and all members of Cummings’ Health Care Facility staff. It’s hard to list them all as she had many good, loving friends whom she cherished. She will miss Barney and Bear, her two dogs. There will be no viewing. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo Catholic Church with the Rev. Leroy Landry presiding. Interment will be at St Matthew’s Cemetery, West Enfield. In lieu of flowers or money cards, donate to your choice of animal centers. The Haverlock family thanks you kindly. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
