(TROTT, BOWEN) PINKHAM BEDFORD, N.H. – Isabel Charloton (Trott, Bowen) Pinkham, 90, of Ridgewood Road passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006, after a brief illness. Isabel was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Eastport. She was the daughter of the late Ephraim Trott and Mary Zella Moore. From 1919 to 1922, she lived in Portland, at the Portland Head Lighthouse, where her stepfather was an assistant lighthouse keeper. After the death of her mother and then her stepfather, she was placed in foster care in the State of Maine until 1937, when she lived in Houlton, and later moved to Millinocket, where she led an active community life working in the home of the owners of the Great Northern Paper Mill. During World War II she worked briefly at Pratt & Whitney before settling in Franklin, N.H. in the early 1940s, where she met and married Jack L. Pinkham. Together they owned Pinkham’s Market, Pinkham’s Clam Bar and the Holiday Inn & Cabins. She was renowned throughout the area for her fried clams and onion rings. Selling the business in 1974, she continued cooking and catering before taking a position in 1984, working at the Ombudsmen’s office for long term care. She retired in 2004, at the age of 88, after 20 years of service. She was active throughout her life in the Order of the Eastern Star serving several times as worth matron of Ionic Chapter No. 20, in Franklin, N.H., she went on to serve as New Hampshire’s grand representative to California 1957-1960, grand Ruth, associate grand marshall and grand marshall. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Joy “Joya” Pinkham Clark and her husband, Will, of Wilmot, N.H.; her two grandsons, Mark Trottier of Concord, N.H. and Scott Trottier of Manchester, N.H.; three great-granddaughters, Kathryn, Kayley and Emma Trottier, all of Concord, N.H.; her stepson, Lawrence D. Pinkham and his wife, Joan, of Amherst, Mass.; a stepgrandson, Christopher Pinkham of Freemont, N.H.; and a stepgranddaughter, Claire Pinkham of Santa Cruz, Calif. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack L. Pinkham in 1968; and her daughter, Linda Solomon in 1941. Visiting hours will be held 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, June 29, at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord, N.H. A celebration of her life will be held immediately after at noon in the chapel of the Waters Funeral Home. She loved her flower garden, plants and beautiful rosebushes.
