BANGOR – Jack E. Snively, 65, died June 20, 2004 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Aug. 21, 1939, in Indianapolis, Ind. Jack was a graduate of Bellaire High School, Bellaire, Ohio. He attended several technical colleges earning licenses in electrical, plumbing and heating. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966, as a small arms instructor. After discharge he worked at Combustion Engineering in Windsor, Conn., before moving to Newington, N.H., where he taught vocational skills at the Great Bay School and Training Center. He then moved to Bangor, where he worked in the property management business for many years and then for the City of Bangor, first at BIA and later at the Bass Park Complex. He was also a HUD and VA housing inspector since 1984. He was a member of St. Andrews Lodge No. 83 A.F. & A.M. and Anah Shrine all of Bangor plus other Masonic affiliations. He was an Anah Shrine Clown (FESTE) since 1988, and he also played Santa for numerous organizations since 1973. He was a private pilot and loved to hunt and fish. Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Anne (Ward) Snively of Bangor; his son, Scott and his wife, Glenna, of Appleton; his daughter, Sharon and her husband, Steve Thebarge, of Veazie. He is also survived by his greatest joy in his life, his grandchildren, Samantha, Ian, and Braedon Snively, and Sarah and Ethan Thebarge; and his one brother, Gilbert Wethington and his wife, Roxie, of Waynesburg, Ohio. He was predeceased by his biological mother, Marie Wethington; and his parents, Gilbert and Bess Snively, who raised Jack from infancy. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Masonic service will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday conducted by the Anah Shrine Clowns. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Patricia Moore, pastor of the Veazie Congregational Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
