CORINNA – James Albert Dyer Sr., 78, died Feb. 28, 2004, at his residence. He was born March 19, 1925, at Orrington, a son of Sheridan and Dora (Betts) Dyer. He graduated from Brewer High School. He was a decorated war veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Europe and the Pacific. Jim was a member of the Maine Country Music Association, Corinna Post No. 73 American Legion, and the Pleasant Street Christian Church. In April, he and his wife, Frances (Cairns) Dyer, would have celebrated 57 years of marriage. In addition to his wife of Corinna, he is survived by four sons, James A. Dyer Jr. of Georgia, Daniel D. Dyer, Donald D. Dyer and Darrell Dyer, all of Corinna; a daughter, Judith A. Jordan of Corinna; a brother, Clarence B. Dyer of Bangor; eight grandchildren, Sophia Matz of Virginia, Lisa Crane of Florida, Roy E. Tompkins of Tennessee, Adam A. Dyer and Joslyn J. Dyer, both of Georgia, Zephaniah “Guy” Dyer, Isaiah “Izzy” Dyer and Simeon “Nuff” Dyer, all of Dexter; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a long-time friend, Joseph Rasato of Connecticut. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at the Pleasant Street Christian Church, Corinna, with the Rev. Edward Jaworski officiating.
