LAMOINE – James A. Michielli, 74, died Jan. 6, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 17, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of James and Marie (LaBella) Michielli. Jim grew up in Hempstead, N.Y. and lived in Buffalo and Port Washington, N.Y. He and his wife, Lucia moved to Maine six years ago. He loved his Maine home and the peace and natural beauty that summoned him here. Jim graduated from Hofstra University and received his masters of education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He also studied at Oxford University, England and at the Bologna Center in Italy. Jim was director of International Programs at SUNY, Buffalo and served as an administrator for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority in Buffalo and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City. In retirement, he enjoyed working as an educator at the South Street Seaport in New York City. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lucia (Millham), known in the family as “Hazel”; two sons, Jim Michielli of Albuquerque, N.M. and Bruce Michielli of Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, Donald Michielli and his wife, Donna, of Hempstead, N.Y.; and his Uncle Rudy, of San Diego, Calif.
