ARCADIA, Fla. – James A. Neice, 70, passed away Jan. 6, 2007. He was born Nov. 26, 1936, in Walton, N.Y., to Earl and Alice (Cranston) Neice. A Vietnam veteran, James served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in July 1975. After the Air Force, he worked for Del-Met, Walton, N.Y., for 14 years, whereupon he moved to Bangor and worked for Telford Aviation as an aircraft mechanic. He then trained as a certified nurses’ aide and did home health care, and worked for the Ronald McDonald House. After 13 years, he moved to Arcadia, Fla., where he enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, golf and helping others. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Boyington) Neice; sons, Lt. Col. James Jr. and Linda of Virginia, Jeffrey and Amy of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; daughters, Julie and Edwin Darling of Bedford Hills, N.Y., Jennifer and Joseph Carlton of Arcadia, Fla., and Cindy Jo and Chris Hauk of Highland, Calif.; his mother, Alice of Delhi, N.Y.; his sister, Sharon and Larry Underwood of Arcadia, Fla., and Walton, N.Y.; two grandsons, Derek and Thomas Neice; 11 granddaughters, Rachel, Jessica, Claire, Emily and Victoria Neice, Vanessa and Victoria Darling, Cheyenne and Amanda Carlton and Alicia and Jamie Hauk; his three brothers-in-law, Neil and Saranne Boyington, Robert and Carolyn Boyington of Maine and William Hoyt of New York; his four sisters-in-law, Fay and Ann Neice of New York, Brenda and Herbert Dickey of Maine and Suzanne and Douglas Worster of South Carolina. He was predeceased by his father, Earl; his two brothers, LeRoy and Howard; and his sister, Nadine Hoyt. There was a memorial service held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Calvary Baptist Church, Arcadia, Fla., with the Rev. Chuck Poe officiating.
