BERNARD – James E. Farley, 65, died unexpectedly March 27, 2004, at his winter home in Betmar Acres, Zephyrhills, Fla. He was born July 18, 1938, in Bar Harbor, the son of Edwin and Thelma (Thurlow) Farley. He graduated from Pemetic High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He owned and operated the Bar Harbor Color Center. He was a caretaker of summer cottages and a captain on sightseeing boats for many years. He was a member of the Tremont Masonic Lodge No. 77 AF & AM and a member of Bayside Grange in Ellsworth. Special interests were photography, playing chess and traveling with his wife. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine (Saucier) Conary Farley; two sons, Michael of Tremont, and Gary and his wife, Laurie, of Blue Hill; three step children, Deborah Staples and her husband, Kevin, of Swan’s Island, Randall Conary and his wife, Denice, of Holden, and Thomas Conary Sr. of Trenton; grandchildren, Tiffany, Matthew and Gabrielle Farley; step-grandchildren, Katie, Kimberly and Meghan Collins, Lindsay and Lacey Staples, Monica and Thomas Conary Jr.; a sister, Gloria Hodgdon of Seal Cove; nieces, Noreen Wass, Janice Pottle and Lynn Wehrfritz; many cousins; and his best friends, Roger Pomroy and Ed Elvidge.
