BAR HARBOR – James “Jimmie” J. Lambert, 83, died Feb. 13, 2007, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1923, in Bar Harbor, the son of George Robert and Susan F. (McSorley) Lambert Sr. James worked for the Jackson Laboratory for 38 years. With his wife, Barbara, he owned and operated the Islandview Gift Shop and he also was a partner with Sadie and Ralph Cunningham, in the Bar Harbor Gift Shop. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and African and European theaters. During this time, he met up with his brother, George, in Germany. James was a member of the Bar Harbor Police Reserve for many years and a member of the American Legion of Bar Harbor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara (Hodgkins) Lambert; his brother, George R. Lambert Jr.; and his sister, Sadie Cunningham, both of Bar Harbor; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends are invited to call 3-5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, with the Rev. Mary-Carol Griffin officiating. Spring interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
