INDIAN TOWNSHIP – James Joseph Mitchell, 89, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at a Calais nursing home. Jim Dee was born June 9, 1917, at Peter Dana Point, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Mell) Mitchell. He was a counselor for A.A. for many years, then became a bus driver for MITA. Jim Dee was a member of St. Anne’s Mission and enjoyed square dancing, polka, and was an accomplished harmonica player. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Gabriel and a brother, Joseph Socoby. Surviving are his daughter, Roberta Richter of Pleasant Point; two sisters, Doris Chapman and Delia Mitchell, both of Indian Township; three grandchildren, Mark Richter of Tulsa, Okla., Margo Downing and husband, Paul, of Old Town, and Rolfe Richter and wife, Trudy, of Pleasant Point; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Bear and Mandy Richter; a great-great-grandchild on the way; many nieces and nephews, and their families. Friends may call from 5 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Saturday, at the home of his sister, Doris Chapman on Hemlock Lane, Indian Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne’s Mission, Peter Dana Point, with Fr. Frank Morin celebrant. Burial will be held at a later date.
