BANGOR – James Patrick Burke, 87, died Nov. 1, 2003, at his Bangor home. He was born June 29, 1916, in Bangor, the son of John T. and Mary E. (Mazerall) Burke. James attended John Bapst High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at the family store Burke’s Variety on Main Street. Later he worked as a laborer around the city. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Survivors include two nieces, Kathleen Terwilliger and Lisa Drake; two nephews, Michael and Patrick Burke. He was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, Francis E., John T., and Edward M. Burke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, presider. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St. Interment will be in the family lot at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery.
