HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. – James W. Hewins, 63, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton, N.J. Born in Abington, Pa., Mr. Hewins was a longtime Hightstown, N.J., area resident. He was a graduate of Hightstown High School. Mr. Hewins retired from McGraw Hill in 1995, after 28 years of service. Later, he was employed by WalMart of West Windsor, N.J., as a greeter. He was an active member of Hightstown Fire Co. No. 1, with more than 30 years of service. Mr. Hewins is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley A. Hewins of Hightstown, N.J., and Kathleen and George F. DeFusco of Maine; two uncles, Charles Hewins Sr. and James Hewins; two aunts, June O’Connell and Lorraine Hammond; a niece, Katie Lamont; and nephew, Ryan P. Quill; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 251 Franklin St., Hightstown, N.J.
