SEARSPORT – James Wesley Robertson, 86, passed away Feb. 1, 2005, at a Blue Hill healthcare facility. He was born Aug. 4, 1918, in Belfast, the son of James C. and Mary (White) Robertson. James graduated from Crosby High School in 1940 and was involved in athletics including football. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Savannah, Ga., until the attack on Pearl Harbor. He then served in New Guinea for 33 months as a staff sergeant in charge of technical supply for the 90th Bomb Squadron, 3rd Attack Group. On returning from New Guinea, James was stationed at Lowry Field, Denver, where he met and married his wife, Dorothy. He worked as a printer for 34 years retiring in 1980. James was an outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, tending to his blueberry field, and liked camping on Half Moon Pond. He was predeceased by a brother, Hermit; and a sister, Avis Curtis. James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Stein) Robertson; many nieces, nephews; grand and great-nieces and nephews. Graveside services at Grove Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
