PRESQUE ISLE – Jane Sellers Cole, 81, died on May 11, 2005, at her residence in Presque Isle, in the prayerful presence of family and friends. Mrs. Cole was born Alice Jane Sellers on Feb. 8, 1924, in Robards, Ky. Mrs. Cole dedicated much time and energy to many community and charitable activities, including the Christian Temple Church in Lubec, the First Christian Church in Henderson, Ky., Daughters of the American Revolution, the Garden Club, Rotariannes, The Community Methodist Hospital Auxiliary in Henderson, Ky., various school PTAs and the Jenny Lynns. She was a joyful, compassionate and patient person who loved her family, her pets, traditions, her old home, growing and arranging flowers, cooking and baking, collecting antiques, sewing, knitting, tatting lace, her property, her friends in Maine and Kentucky, and above all, giving generously to others. Her family resides in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, California, Wisconsin, and Maine, where Mrs. Cole summered for forty years. She was beloved beyond words and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Julian B. Cole, in 1986; and her eldest daughter, Nancy Cole Flynn, on Feb. 1, 2005. She was a beautiful, devoted, caring friend, wife, mother and grandmother who is survived by her adult children, Hugh Cole, Evelyn Cole Hart, Catherine Cole Francke, Julian Cole, Cynthia Cole Teer, Lenora Cole Viscardi, and Margaret Markey; and 15 grandchildren, all of whom adored her. Prayer service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, at the Christian Temple Church in Lubec. Burial will be in Kentucky early in July.
